Private by design.
Small Pause is built to provide useful reminders without observing the content of your work.
What stays on your Mac
Reminder preferences, active-work counters, completion history, pause state, training settings, and a bounded minimal feedback history are stored locally. Feedback contains only event type, reminder kind, and time.
Smart Timing uses aggregate input-event counts, time since the last input, and transient frontmost-app switching locally. It does not store app names in feedback and does not read keys, code, documents, screenshots, window text, websites, or clipboard contents.
AI hook events
If a Pro user enables the optional AI hook, a local helper sends only an event name such as thinking_started and a short tool label to 127.0.0.1 on the same Mac. The listener is not exposed to the local network or internet.
On-device camera sensing (optional)
Camera Intelligence is off by default and starts only after you turn it on and grant macOS camera permission. While active, macOS shows its normal camera-use indicator. You can pause it from the menu bar, and capture stops when paused or when the app quits.
Low-resolution frames are sampled at low frequency and processed in memory with Apple Vision for sustained presence, general face direction, and posture change relative to a sit-tall calibration. Frames are immediately discarded. Small Pause does not save photos, video, face templates, or raw keypoints and does not upload camera data or call cloud AI.
Presence and posture signals are estimates, not identity recognition or medical measurements. The experimental possible-drink interface does not claim to identify a cup or dehydration. A user pressing Done drinking is treated as more reliable than any inferred signal. Only derived state and times, plus a calibration scalar, may be stored locally; these can be deleted in Settings.
Purchases and licences
Purchases are processed by Creem as merchant of record. Its checkout receives the billing and payment information you provide. When activating, validating, or deactivating Pro, the app sends the licence key, a generated device identifier, and the Mac's local device name to the Small Pause licence endpoint on smallpause.app, which forwards the request to Creem without storing the request body. The licence key and instance details are stored in macOS Keychain.
Website
The website does not use advertising trackers. Cloudflare may process standard request data such as IP address, browser information, and security logs to deliver and protect the site. Your language preference is stored in browser local storage.
Your choices
You can disable Smart Timing, Camera Intelligence, system notifications, sound, individual office actions, AI hooks, and pelvic-floor practice. You can pause camera sensing or reminders, reset camera calibration, delete camera-derived history, deactivate a Pro licence, or remove the app and its local data.
